Freshwater Academy is a week-long camp that gives high school students the opportunity for hands-on experience and fieldwork in Northwestern Pennsylvania's waterways. Students spend their days studying biology and freshwater ecology at a level they can't achieve in the classroom. They will get wet, they will get dirty, and they will love it!

Fun with forestry
Yesterday my fellow campers and I were able to have a hands on experience with some trees on Allegheny College campus. We were able to use some forestry equipment such as the Biltmore stick to get an approximate measure of the number of board feet in a tree and its individual value.

I have several coworkers along with myself following the daily events from creek camp. We all watch with envy wishing we had the opportunity when we were younger, what a nice program. I work with one gentleman who seems eager to get involved, he knows the woodcock area very well and could be a potential asset to the program. Keep up the good work!
Allegheny College has so many lovely trees. They've done a wonderful job preserving the beauty of the campus.
