The best part about today was the water table(the sandbox with water). We built so many, many failed waterways. We eventually learned how to manipulate the sand to make a fairly permanent "stream".We have two Lorax's this year. In the sandbox we found "
Freshwater Academy is a week-long camp that gives high school students the opportunity for hands-on experience and fieldwork in Northwestern Pennsylvania's waterways. Students spend their days studying biology and freshwater ecology at a level they can't achieve in the classroom. They will get wet, they will get dirty, and they will love it!

Team Red Zone is in the zone with GPS!
Used a Use d a GPS tracker for the first time. After a few technical problems, it turned out that us (a.k.a. Team Red Zone) (coolest team name ever!!) finished first. On our last destination, we saw the other teams were gaining on us and we ran the rest of the way! We earned appreciation and a high five from Creek Counselor. Then we got our first freezer pops of many and got to watch everyone else find the treasure.
Awesome Island
We got to check out a steam table today. We watched the way the water moved and reshape the sand around it and how the speed of the water change when we change things within the little steam. Building dams in sand is so much fun! We built a number of things like dams and waterfalls. Awesome Island is the island that Creek Counselor Matt came up with when we were there.

First Activity
On the first day at the camp (Sunday) we learned to use a GPS and locate different points or objects. These are really useful and easy to use. The campers were divided into 4 groups and each group should locate a series of coordinates. When we were close enough to the point we had to look for a box which contained another coordinate. There was a total of 5 coordinates and then we had to meet in another point. It was very interesting and really fun!

Creek Camp is almost here!
Hi Creek Campers!
We are anxiously awaiting your arrival and everything is almost in place! We thought we'd help ease your journey by posting a picture of what North Village (the apartments we will be staying in) look like. There will be directional signs around campus which are also pictured. And maybe, just MAYBE, you'll see a rare gator sighting. I hope you guys are ready to have the best time of your lives!
