A Creeky good time

Creek Camp is known for one thing and one thing only.... the Creek of course! On Tuesday after a great picnic in Bicentennial Park we were given the opportunity to go to French Creek to do some underwater snorkeling. Not being used to the cold weather and the even colder creek (well for a non-Pennsylvania resident it was) it took a while for me to actually dive right in to see the underwater world beneath us.

Lots and lots of mussels were rescued but the "highlight" of the creek was finding Lamprey fish, which looked to me like a huge yellow worm.

We do not have lampreys in Little Sewickley Creek, so glad the boys got to see that one!

Cool! I've never seen a lamprey. In what type of creek environment does it thrive?
