Freshwater Academy is a week-long camp that gives high school students the opportunity for hands-on experience and fieldwork in Northwestern Pennsylvania's waterways. Students spend their days studying biology and freshwater ecology at a level they can't achieve in the classroom. They will get wet, they will get dirty, and they will love it!

Pitt lab
Today we visited the Pitt labs at Pymatuning. We got to see the types of tests they were preforming like seeing what type of leaf litter tadpoles preferred. We also learned about eutrophication which is the overgrowth of algae on the surface of water. Lastly we hiked though poison ivy and a wasp nest looking for ponds in the woods. Sadly the wasp attack ended our tour of the Pitt labs but overall it was fun and interesting.

Yikes, I hope no one was stung!
Nothing like a wasp attack to put an end to just about anything! Glad you got your tour in & chance to see the tadpoles & little frogs before chaos hit.
There were a few stings... but everyone moved on to enjoy the trip to the spillway, hatchery and nighttime star viewing at the old observatory.
sounds like your vocabulary is growing and you will be able to share a lot more information to educate all of us when you come home!
